Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience at Sirromet

Step into the Wizarding World after dark with magical creatures, spell-casting, and immersive scenes in an enchanted forest light trail at Sirromet Winery

The Brisbane Travel Guide acknowledges the Gorenpul and Quandamooka people, specifically, the Noonucal, Gorenpul, and Nughi groups, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Sirromet is situated. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging, and recognise their continued spiritual and cultural connections to Country.  Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

What to Expect

Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience is an after-dark trail that transforms the peaceful bushland of Sirromet Winery into a magical, glow-lit world straight out of the Wizarding World.

Wander along a 1–1.5km illuminated trail through native forest, where whispering trees, flickering lights, and immersive soundscapes guide you through a self-paced journey filled with magical surprises.

Over the course of 45–75 minutes, you’ll encounter iconic creatures, legendary scenes, and interactive moments—brought to life with cutting-edge theatrical design from Fever and Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Among the highlights are Hippogriffs, Unicorns, Nifflers, and even a shadowy Dementor, and for the first time in Australia, you’ll also see Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, and Hagrid’s loyal dog Fang appear throughout the experience.

Guests can engage in interactive spell-casting, bowing before Buckbeak, casting their own Patronus charm, or testing their duelling skills in immersive Hogwarts-inspired scenes.

You’ll find the perfect photo opportunities everywhere—from the enchanted Ford Anglia, glowing centaur encounters, and burnished light tunnels, to wand-worthy moments framed by forest light and fog.

The entire experience is designed to be family-friendly and atmospheric, magical enough for fans of all ages. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or discovering the magic for the first time, this trail promises a night of wonder under the stars.

Best Times to Visit

For the best experience, consider visiting early in the evening before crowds build up or later in the evening for a quieter walk. Weeknights are likely to be less busy compared to weekends.

We had a 6 pm session, and the trail was reasonably quiet. However, when we came out at 7 pm, there was a huge lineup to get in.

Book your tickets in advance to secure your preferred time slot, as this event is expected to sell out quickly.

Accessibility

Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience is an outdoor trail set within the winery’s natural bushland. Most of the path is unsealed, featuring uneven, bushwalking terrain and several steep sections at the start and end of the trail that can make full wheelchair access challenging but not entirely impossible.

While complimentary wheelchairs are available, guests are advised to plan accordingly, taking into account their specific mobility needs.

For families with prams, sturdy outdoor wheels are recommended.

Service animals are permitted, ensuring guests with assistance needs are well supported.

While there is no low-sensory session, the event is generally ambient rather than overwhelming—audio levels are kept at a modest level, and lighting effects avoid extreme strobing. However, there are some flashing sequences (kept below 5 flashes per second to reduce seizure risk).

For younger guests, please keep in mind that it can feel a little scary, so consider this before bringing all the kids.

For guests requiring the assistance of a carer, please present your companion card at the venue to receive free entry for your assistant.

On-site amenities include accessible toilets, designated seating areas for rest breaks, and staff are available throughout the evening to assist guests with mobility or sensory concerns.

Food and Drinks

Before or after emerging from the forest, visitors are welcomed into a themed food village offering a variety of eats, sweets, and drinks to enjoy under the stars.

Expect a selection of Wizarding World-inspired goodies, including Butterbeer, rich hot chocolates, toasted marshmallows, and other comforting winter favourites. There are kid-friendly snacks, classic comfort food, and plenty of options to satisfy both sweet and savoury cravings.

As you’d expect, food is a little pricey, with a Dagwood and chips being among the cheapest meals at $10.50. Chicken tenders and chips are $24, or fish and chips are $26, which, while pricey, is easily enough for two people to share, even three kids.

Sweets are fairly pricey too, with cake pops at $15 and cupcakes and cookies $12 each – but very delicious – take it from me!

For grown-up guests, the experience also taps into Sirromet’s vineyard magic with a curated list of local wines, craft beers, and warming mulled wine available at the estate’s Lawn Bar and Tuscan Terrace (Wednesday to Sunday).

On select nights (June 21, 22, 28, and 29) from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm, the atmosphere is elevated even further with Winter Markets, where local artisan stalls, live acoustic music, and seasonal street food add to the cosy, community feel of the event.

How to get there
