Moonshine Saloon Brisbane: Everything You Need to Know

The Brisbane Travel Guide acknowledges the Turrbal and Yuggera people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Moonshine Saloon is situated. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise their continued spiritual and cultural connections to Country. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

If you’re looking for a night out in Brisbane that’s a little different, Moonshine Saloon is one of the most unique experiences currently on offer.

Part immersive theatre, part cocktail bar, this Wild West-inspired experience drops you straight into a story — where you’re not just watching the action, you’re part of it.

From the moment you step through the saloon doors, you’re transported into a hidden world of bootleggers, outlaws and contraband cocktails.

What is Moonshine Saloon?

Moonshine Saloon is an interactive cocktail experience set in a fictional Wild West town during the American Prohibition.

Rather than sitting back and watching, you’re invited to step into the storyline — taking on the role of a new recruit in a secret moonshining operation led by the infamous Clyde Cassidy.

Throughout the experience, you’ll interact with live actors, take part in games and navigate a story that unfolds around you.

It’s part theatre, part social experience — and entirely immersive.

What to Expect

This is not your typical bar — and that’s exactly the point.

From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed into character and drawn into the story, with Western-style costumes and props helping to set the scene.

Soon after we arrived, Marty was chosen to be the Deputy Sheriff and given a special hat to wear. Throughout the night, the actors kept referring back to him, which made it both interesting and genuinely funny. He was a great sport and fully embraced the role, which enhanced the overall experience.

Early on, he was also given a letter with clues to help guide his character throughout the night, and it was clear that different guests were selected for various roles as the story unfolded. It’s these small, personalised touches that make the experience feel interactive without being overwhelming.

On each table, there’s also a set of cards, so you can play along if you like — whether that’s getting involved in the storyline or simply enjoying the atmosphere at your own pace.

The experience is designed to be playful and engaging, with plenty of opportunities to get involved — or simply sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.

The Cocktails

A big part of the experience is, of course, the drinks.

Each ticket includes four cocktails (or mocktails, with beer and wine alternatives available).

The drinks are crafted by mixologists who stay fully in character, which adds to the immersive feel of the experience. The cocktails themselves are themed to match the Wild West setting, making them part of the storytelling rather than just something you order at the bar.

One thing to keep in mind — while four drinks are included, the pours are quite measured. We actually wondered how we’d get through four cocktails during the session, but they were lighter than expected, and we left feeling completely fine.

If you’re after something stronger, it may be worth opting for the beer or wine options instead.

Accessibility

Moonshine Saloon is wheelchair accessible, and guests requiring assistance throughout this experience can apply for one free pass for their personal assistant/support worker. Simply show proof of needing a carer ticket at the entrance, and the carer will be allowed in for free.

Service dogs are also welcome.

Is Moonshine Saloon Worth it?

If you enjoy:

  • Interactive experiences
  • Themed bars or immersive events
  • Something social and a little different

Then this is definitely worth doing.

It’s not about sitting back and watching — it’s about stepping into the experience and having fun with it.

For groups, date nights or celebrations, it offers something more memorable than a standard night out.

That said, it’s worth noting that the experience sits at a higher price point, and the inclusions may not suit everyone. While the cocktails are part of the experience, they are relatively light, and no food is provided during the session.

In our group, the younger members particularly enjoyed it, so it may appeal more to a younger crowd or those looking for a playful, novelty-style night out.

If you’re expecting a traditional bar experience or a full evening with food and stronger drinks, this may not quite meet those expectations. However, if you’re open to something interactive and a bit different, it can still be a fun and entertaining experience.

Enjoy Moonshine Saloon!

Moonshine Saloon Brisbane offers something completely different to the usual bar or theatre experience.

By combining immersive storytelling with cocktails and social interaction, it creates a night out thats playful, engaging and certainly memorable.

If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary in Brisbane, this is definitely one to add to your list.
