Holiday Inn & Suites Sunshine Coast (formerly Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sunshine Coast) is a modern 181-room hotel in central Maroochydore, close to the emerging city centre, Sunshine Plaza, dining precincts and the coast.
We recently spent a few days at the Holiday Inn while in town for the Horizon Festival. In this review, we share our thoughts on the property so that you can decide if it’s the right hotel for your next trip to Maroochydore.

HOLIDAY INN & SUITES SUNSHINE COAST REVIEW
Below, we cover all you need to know about the Holiday Inn & Suites Sunshine Coast – including location, accommodation options, facilities and dining options.
LOCATION
The hotel’s central location is within walking distance of Maroochydore’s commercial centre, making it a prime choice for travellers there on business. We were in town for the Horizon Festival, held at Cotton Tree Park, just a 10 minute walk away.
The hotel is also just a 10 minute walk from the popular Sunshine Plaza shopping centre and the Ocean Street dining precinct, which means from the Holiday Inn, you’re never far from the shops, restaurants and cafes. There are also plenty of other dining options within a few minutes walk.
Cotton Tree and Maroochydore beaches are farther away; allow roughly 20 to 30 minutes on foot depending on your destination, or take a short drive.
ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS
Rooms are simple and modern, with premium bedding, a 50-inch Smart TV with Chromecast, free Wi-Fi, blackout blinds, a workspace, air conditioning, a mini refrigerator, tea and coffee facilities, an in-room safe and an ensuite bathroom.
Current room categories include standard rooms with one queen, one king or two queen beds, plus king suites. Some king rooms and suites have a patio, and selected suites include a sofa bed. We stayed in a king room with a patio. Check the exact bedding, maximum occupancy and inclusions for your chosen room before booking.
For families or larger groups, a room with two queen beds is available, or you can opt for connecting rooms.
DINING OPTIONS
The hotel now operates as Holiday Inn & Suites and Nineteen Restaurant & Bar serves a daily buffet breakfast. Breakfast inclusions and prices depend on the rate booked, so check your room package. Children aged 12 and under may eat free when dining with an eligible adult under the hotel’s current Kids Eat Free terms.
Nineteen also serves dinner from Tuesday to Sunday from 5.30 pm, with drinks and casual dining available at the bar. Opening times and menus can change, so confirm them with the hotel for your stay.
FACILITIES
There are a few facilities at the Holiday Inn & Suites to make your stay more comfortable.
Rooftop Pool
The heated outdoor rooftop swimming pool on Level 8 remains a highlight, with an open-air deck and views across the Sunshine Coast. The hotel currently lists pool hours as 7 am to 9 pm.
Towels are available just outside the lifts on the pool level, so there is no need to bring your own or remove towels from your room.
Gym
The hotel has a 24-hour fitness centre with treadmills, an elliptical machine, a stationary bicycle and free weights.
Laundry
A self-service guest laundry is available, which is useful for longer stays. Ask reception about the current payment arrangements and supplies.
Bar
Nineteen Restaurant & Bar now provides the hotel’s main dining and social space, with buffet breakfast, dinner from Tuesday to Sunday and all-day bar dining.
Parking
There is limited on site parking, which cannot be guaranteed in advance. If you’re lucky enough to get a car park, you will pay $20 per night for the privilege.
If the hotel’s limited secure spaces are full, the hotel currently directs guests to the nearby ParknGo facility via Lightning Lane. Confirm the current off-site rate and access arrangements before leaving your vehicle.
There is street parking in the area, however most of this is 2 hour parking on weekdays until 5 pm.
It’s recommended that you check in and unload first, then follow the hotel’s directions if you need to use the alternative parking facility.
WHO IS THE HOLIDAY INN & SUITES FOR?
The Holiday Inn & Suites is perfect for those looking for a modern, affordable hotel central to all Maroochydore offers. It may be less convenient for travellers who want to step directly onto the beach, as the hotel is in Maroochydore’s city centre rather than on the beachfront.
The hotel now has an onsite restaurant and bar as well as the rooftop pool, gym and guest laundry. It remains best suited to travellers wanting a convenient Maroochydore base rather than a full-service beachfront resort.
