The Brisbane Travel Guide acknowledges the Turrbal people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Brisbane (Meeanjin) is located. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging, and recognise their continued spiritual and cultural connections to the Country. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
For those coming from outside Brisbane for their cruise, chances are you’ll need somewhere to stay before or after your cruise – or maybe even both! So where are the best places to stay near the Brisbane cruise terminal?
The Brisbane cruise terminal is in the middle of nowhere, 12 km northeast of the city centre. So if you want to be close to the terminal, a hotel in the city isn’t ideal as it’s a bit of a drive to the terminal. While there isn’t a wide range of hotels near the cruise terminal in Brisbane, there are still a few decent options, no matter what your budget is or how many there are in your cruising group.
To help you choose one of the hotels near the Brisbane cruise terminal, this guide provides all the information you need, such as how far away the hotel is from the terminal, the hotel facilities and anything else you may need to know.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Brisbane cruise terminal recently moved from Hamilton to Luggage Point near Myrtletown in Pinkenba. Be careful with any information you read online, as it may not have been updated and may be referring to the old cruise terminal.

Where to Stay for the Brisbane Cruise Terminal?
Before we look at our recommended accommodation near the Brisbane cruise terminal, let’s talk briefly about the best area to stay in.
First, the cruise terminal recently relocated near Luggage Point near Myrtletown in Pinkenba, which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. It was previously in Hamilton, which was much closer to the city centre, so just be mindful of this when looking at hotels.
When writing this article, I noticed many hotels still say they’re near the cruise terminal, but they are referring to the old terminal, not the new location.
There isn’t any accommodation super close to the cruise terminal, so wherever you stay, you’ll either need a car, good public transport links or be willing to take a taxi or rideshare.
If you plan on staying in Brisbane for a while, booking a hotel in the city centre makes sense. But if you’re just staying a night before or after your cruise, you’re probably not going to want to do this, as these hotels are further away from the terminal, so it will cost you more to get to and from the hotel.
A good compromise is Fortitude Valley which is a great spot if you want a night out in Brisbane before or after your cruise.
For accommodation near the Brisbane cruise ship terminal, your best bet is to stay either by the airport (perfect for those flying in or out of Brisbane) or along the Brisbane River in the suburb of Hamilton.
Hamilton is a great choice for those wanting to find budget hotels near the Brisbane cruise ship terminal, as accommodation here is much cheaper than the airport hotels. Plus, the closer you are to the river, the closer you’ll be to the dining precinct called Portside. This area is great for grabbing a bite to eat and there’s even a cinema here if you have time to kill.
